At Freedom Fireworks, your safety is our priority.

All fireworks sold are manufactured and tested to meet strict safety standards. However, as fireworks are hand-assembled products, occasional faults can occur. It is essential that all users handle and operate fireworks responsibly and in accordance with these guidelines.

🔥 Important Safety Notice

Fireworks are hazardous and must only be handled by responsible adults in accordance with Northern Territory laws.

By using fireworks, you accept responsibility for their safe handling and use.

✅ General Safety Rules

Please follow these guidelines at all times:

Before Lighting

  • Read and follow all instructions provided on the packaging.
  • Use fireworks only during legal periods, such as Territory Day.
  • Choose a safe, open outdoor area free from flammable materials.
  • Ensure adequate clearance from people, property, and vehicles.
  • Keep a bucket of water, hose, or fire extinguisher nearby.
  • Store fireworks in a closed, spark-proof container away from ignition sources.

While Lighting Fireworks

  • Always keep your body and face away when lighting.
  • Light fireworks at arm’s length using a lighting device.
  • Never lean over a firework.
  • Always point fireworks in a safe direction away from people and property.

Securing Fireworks

  • Ensure fireworks are stable and cannot tip over.
  • Where required:
    • Partially bury fireworks in sand.
    • Use support blocks or firm ground.

Safe Distances

  • Maintain a minimum distance of 5 metres from fireworks.
  • We strongly recommend:
    • 10 metres for adults.
    • 30 metres for children and spectators.

Note: Fireworks may exceed their expected firing radius.

Personal Safety

  • Always wear safety glasses when lighting fireworks.
  • Never allow children to light fireworks.
  • Stay aware of your surroundings and other people’s fireworks.

🚫 What NOT To Do

  • Do NOT relight a firework that fails to ignite.
  • Do NOT approach a misfired firework for at least 30 minutes.
  • Do NOT carry fireworks in pockets or hold them while lit.
  • Do NOT use fireworks near buildings, dry grass, or flammable materials.
  • Do NOT use illegal or untested fireworks.

⚠️ Misfire Procedure

If a firework does not ignite:

  1. Wait at least 30 minutes.
  2. Do not approach prematurely.
  3. Submerge the firework in water for 24 hours before disposal.

🚁 Special Fireworks (Flying Items)

For items such as planes, helicopters, or flyers:

  • Use only on hard, flat, smooth surfaces.
  • Do NOT use on:
    • Grass.
    • Sand.
    • Gravel.

These surfaces can cause unpredictable or unsafe flight paths.

✨ Sparklers Safety

  • Sparklers burn at temperatures exceeding 1000°C.
  • Never touch immediately after use.
  • Dispose safely in water after cooling.
  • Always supervise children closely.

⚖️ Legal & Responsible Use

  • Fireworks must not be transported outside the NT.
  • Must only be used during approved times.
  • Must be used in accordance with local laws and safety regulations.
